Alabama vs. Florida After a 3-0 start for Alabama, the Tide took on a "sleeping giant" as they were called Florida team in Tuscaloosa and the Gators upset the Tide 10-6. On paper the game appeared to be very even but three fumbles by the Tide and heavy defensive pressure by the Gators led to the Tide's demise. Joe Namath's 1 yard rush in the fourth quarter was Bama's only points of the game. The 1963 squad finished with a record of 9-2 with a victory in the Sugar Bowl over Mississippi for Coach Bryant.
