  Alabama vs. Florida In this contest, the Tide went into Gainesville and defeated the Gators by a score of 35-14. Bama's first score came on a blocked punt recovered in the end zone by Tyrone King in the first. Richard Todd would score next for the Tide on a 1 yard plunge in the second. Calvin Culliver would score Alabama's next two touchdowns on runs of 11 and 13 yards. Wilbur Jackson ended the scoring for the afternoon with a 6 yard run. The 1973 squad finished the season with a record of 11-1, as SEC champions, as national champions, and with an appearence in the Sugar Bowl for Coach Bryant.
