  Alabama vs. Mississippi For the second time of the 2001 season, Alabama would give up a fourth quarter lead and lose to Ole Miss for the first time in 13 years and for the first time ever in Oxford. Ahmaad Galloway would score on a 6 yard touchdown run in the first. In the second, Tyler Watts would hit Sam Collins for a 58 yard touchdown pass followed by a 31 yard Neal Thomas field goal. Watts would hit Triandos Luke for Bama's final points on a 7 yard touchdown reception in the third. For the third week in a row, Watts would rush for over 100 yards with this 110 yard performance. The 2001 squad would finish with a record of 7-5 and with a victory in the Independence Bowl in coach Dennis Franchione's first season as head coach of the Tide.
