Alabama vs.Tennessee

  Alabama vs. Tennessee Coming off a 13-10 loss to Memphis State a week earlier, Alabama rebounded with a 41-22 victory over the Vols. The Tide would put up 21 first quarter points on a 1 yard Bo Wright run, on a 63 yard Gene Jelks punt return, and on a 90 yard pass play from Vince Sutton to Pierre Goode. In the second, Bama scored on a 47 yard Philip Doyle field goal. In the third, Doyle would hit a 43 yard field goal followed by a 4 yard Bobby Humphrey touchdown run. Humphrey would score again on a 17 yard run in the fourth to close Alabama's scoring for the day. Humphrey starred for the Tide in the game by rushing for 127 yards and a pair of touchdowns. The 1987 squad finished with a record of 7-5 and with an appearance in the Hall of Fame Bowl in Coach Bill Curry's first season at Alabama.
