  Score: 10-0
Alabama vs. Tennessee In this game, Alabama defeated the Vols by a score of 10-0 in Birmingham. After a scoreless first half, Harry Gilmer led the Tide to their only touchdown score after he completed five straight passes to set up Bill Cadenhead's six yard touchdown run. Huge Morrow added on a field goal from the Vol's 17 yard line to add the insurance points. Tennessee did threaten late in the game when they ran 68 yards down the field for a seemingly guaranteed touchdown until Cadenhead tripped him up at the 7 and the defense took over from there stopping the threat. The 1947 squad finished the season 8-3 with an appearance in the Sugar Bowl for Harold "Red" Drew in his first season at the Capstone.
