  Alabama vs. Mississippi In yet another Blowout victory for the Crimson tide in the 1971 season Alabama defeated the Ole Miss Rebels 40-6. Bill Davis had the first two Alabama scores of the game on field goals of 25 and 42 yards. Terry Davis connected with David Bailey on an 11 yard pass and Joseph LaBue had a 29 yard rush. Alabama would score three more touchdowns late in the game. Johnny Musso (7 yards) Steve Bisceglia (15) and Butch Hobson (14) all scored fourth quarter touchdowns to complete the blowout. The 1971 squad would finish the season with a record of 11-1, as SEC champions, and with an appearance in the Orange Bowl for Coach Bryant.
