  Alabama vs. Florida In a thrilling game in the Florida Swamp the Crimson Tide prevailed 40-39 in overtime. This win snapped a 30 game home winning streak for the Gators. Alabama started off the scoring in the first quarter with a Chris Kemp 37 yard field goal. In the second Shawn Alexander scored his first of 4 touchdowns (3 rushing and one receiving) on the day with a 1 yard dive across the goal line. In the third Andrew Zow connected with Alexander on a 47 yard pass play. Going into the fourth quarter Alabama was down by a field goal, but not out yet. Zow connected with Antonio carter 2:30 into the quarter putting the Tide on top. After a gator field goal and touchdown put them up by a touchdown, Alexander struck again with 1:25 remaining in regulation on a 13 yard score. The Game was tied at 33 going into extra time. The gators started the overtime on offense scoring a touchdown, but missing the extra point. The Tide needed only one play on their possession to tie the game. Shawn Alexander had his final touchdown of the game on a 25 yard run. With the game tied at 39 all that was needed was the extra point to ice it. Chris Kemp missed the extra point, but Florida was off sides. The second attempt was good and Alabama left the swamp victorious. The 1999 squad finished the season with a 10-3 record, as SEC champions, and with an appearance in the Orange Bowl for coach Mike Dubose.
