  Alabama vs. Tennessee An impressive Tide squad hosted the Vols of Tennessee in sold-out Legion field and Bama came away with the 25-7 victory on the strength of Harry Gilmer who completed 11 out of 19 passes. In the first Gilmer led an impressive drive that ended with his 4 yard run for the first score of the game. Fred Grant struck next with a 9 yard run set up by a James Cain punt. For the final score of the first half Gilmer completed a 45 yard touchdown pass to Grant to give Alabama a 19-0 halftime lead. After Tennessee scored its only points of the game in the 4th, Norwood Hodges ran in a 1 yard score after a Vol penalty to complete the scoring for the game. The 1945 squad finished the season 10-0, as SEC Champions and with a victory in the Rose Bowl for coach Frank Thomas.
