  Alabama vs. Tennessee For the first time in almost 10 years, the Crimson Tide defeated Tennessee in Knoxville by the score of 27-7. Tim Davis started off the Alabama scoring in the first quarter hitting on two field goals (27 and 23 yards). In the second, Joe Namath hit Benny Nelson for a 33 yard touchdown to give Alabama a 12-0 halftime lead. Tennessee looked strong to open the second half, but in the end Alabama came back to dominate. Cotton Clark scored on a 4 yard touchdown and Jack Hurlbut hit Benny Nelson for 20 yards (followed by a 2 point conversion) to give the Tide the 27-7 lead which they would not give up. The 1962 squad finished with a record of 10-1, and with a victory in the Orange Bowl for Coach Bryant.
