  Alabama vs. Tennessee Fourteen fourth quarter points resulted in a 17-10 Alabama victory in Knoxville for the 1972 season. After only managing only a 31 yard Bill Davis field goal through three quarters of play, Wilbur Jackson would score on a 2 yard rush in the fourth. Terry Davis would then score the game-winning touchdown on a 22 yard run late in the fourth. The 1972 squad would finish the season with a record of 10-2, as SEC champions, and with an appearance in the Cotton Bowl for Coach Bryant.
