  Alabama vs. Vanderbilt The Crimson Tide scored early and scored often in this contest as they defeated Vanderbilt 42-6. Just over one minute into the game Bobby Jones intercepted a Vandy pass and ran it back 49 yard for the score. Later, Leslie Kelly connected with Ray Perkins on a 29 yard touchdown pass. Alabama scored once more in the first quarter, a 35 yard pass by Wayne Trimble to Richard Brewer. Vandy would then score its only 6 points of the game. After that, it was all Alabama who scored once in the second quarter and twice in the third. The second quarter score came on a 14 yard David Chatwood run, and the two third quarter scores came on an 18 yard pass from Trimble to Dennis Homan and the final score came on a 1 yard touchdown run by Trimble. The 1966 squad finished 11-0, as SEC champions, and with a win in the Sugar Bowl against Nebraska for Coach Bryant.
