  Alabama vs. Mississippi A week after losing to Tennessee, the Tide rebounded with this 29-20 victory over the Rebels. Freddie Kitchens would score Bama's first points with his 8 yard touchdown run in the second. In the third, Brian Cunningham would hit a 21 yard field goal, and Curtis Alexander would score on a 56 yard touchdown run. Bama would score a pair of fourth quarter touchdowns to close the afternoons scoring. These touchdowns came on a 13 yard Kitchens pass to Ed Scissum and on a 68 yard Dennis Riddle run. For the game, Bama had 526 yards of total offense with Curtis Alexander rushing for 141 yards on the ground. The 1997 squad finished the season with a record of 4-7 in Mike Dubose's first year at the Capstone.
