  Alabama vs. Texas Christian After a very big win in Knoxville against the Vols, the Crimson Tide was riding high back home to Birmingham with national title hopes brewing and a weak TCU team waiting. The Tide feasted on the weak defense of the Horned Frogs winning easily 41-3. Robert Fraley scored the first touchdown of the day on a 4 yard rush. Rick Watson scored on a 1 yard rush later in the quarter. After a TCU field goal in the second quarter Fraley connected with Keith Pugh for a 5 yard score to give Alabama a 21-3 halftime lead. The second half belonged to Alabama scoring three more touchdowns. The first off of a 15 yard Fraley pass to Ozzie Newsome in the third quarter, and in the fourth quarter Jack O'Rear connected with Jerry Brown for a 15 yard touchdown completion and finally O'Rear would score again, this time he kept it himself rushing it in from 21 yards away. The 1974 squad finished the season with a record of 11-1, as SEC champions, and with an appearance in the Orange Bowl for Coach Bryant.
