Alabama vs.Mississippi State

  Date: 10/28/1950
  Score: 14-7
Alabama vs. Mississippi State Alabama escaped with a 14-7 Homecoming victory over a Mississippi State team that boasted having one of the top defenses in the nation. That defense (along with that of the Tide) held strong for much of the game, as it was scoreless for the first 3 quarters but that’s when the Alabama halfbacks took the game over. A three-yard run by Jim Burkett started the scoring and following a 53 yard run by Bimbo Melton Alabama suddenly found itself on top 14-0. State attempted a comeback very late in the game scoring once but they could not manage a second touchdown on the mighty Tide defense. The 1950 squad would finish the season with a record of 9-2 for Coach Red Drew.
