  Alabama vs. Central Florida UCF's Javier Beorlegui would hit a 37 yard field goal with only :03 remaining in the game to deliver a 40-38 upset over the Tide on homecoming in Tuscaloosa. After going down 10-0 in the first, Bama would score a pair of touchdowns on a 37 yard Brandon Miree run and on a 56 yard pass from Andrew Zow to Shawn Draper. Neal Thomas would open the second quarter scoring with a 40 yard field goal, and Milo Lewis would score on a 22 yard fumble recovery for a touchdown. After being outscored 17-0 in the third, Bama would score a pair of fourth quarter touchdowns. Ahmaad Galloway would score on a 2 yard run, and Zow would hit Dustin McClintock for a 10 yard touchdown reception. In the week following the loss, Mike Dubose announced his resignation as head coach of the Crimson Tide. The 2000 squad would finish the season with a record of 3-8 in Mike Dubose's final season as head coach of the Tide.
