  Alabama vs. Southern Mississippi Brian Burgdorf, starting for an injured Jay Barker, led Alabama to this 40-0 homecoming shutout over the Golden Eagles. Bama would start the game off slowly with Michael Proctor scoring Bama's first 9 points on field goals of 20, 23, and 39 yards. Burgdorf would Tony Johnson for a 29 yard touchdown reception late in the second for Bama's first touchdown. In the third, Proctor would hit a 28 yard field goal, and Burgdorf would hit David Palmer for a 12 yard touchdown reception. In the fourth, Bama would score a pair of touchdowns. The first came on a 77 yard Freddie Kitchens pass to Toderick Malone, and the second came on a 67 yard Brian Steger run. For the game, the defense would only allow 176 yards of total offense to the Eagles, and Palmer would have 129 yards receiving. The 1993 squad finished with a record of 9-3-1 and with a victory in the Gator Bowl for coach Gene Stallings; however, as a result of NCAA violations, Alabama was forced to forfeit a number of games giving Bama an official record of 1-12 for the 1993 season.
