Alabama vs.Georgia

  Date: 10/31/1942
  Score: 10-21
Alabama vs. Georgia A fitting game for a Halloween afternoon as the Tide jumped out to a 10-0 lead going into the final quarter of play but the powers that be allowed for Georgia to score 21 unanswered points in the final quarter of play to defeat the Tide 21-10 for Alabama's first defeat of the season. After a surprising 78 yard quick kick by Alabama that left Georgia stuck on its own 4 yard line they were forced to punt back but only to their own 47 yard line and the first play saw Russ Craft bust an amazing 47 yard run for the first touchdown. The first half ended with Georiga in the middle of its only descent drive of the half as Alabama pass rushers had been all over the Bulldogs. In the third Bama secured some breathing room with a George Hecht field goal but that was all the Tide could muster up for offense the rest of the game. On the final drive of the game the Tide made its way to the Georgia 7 but by then it was too late for any late game heroics and Alabama came away empty. The 1942 squad finished the season 8-3 with a win in the Orange Bowl for Coach Thomas.
