  Alabama vs. Georgia The Tide, on a 5 game winning streak headed into Athens to face an always tough Bulldog team but Bama came away with a decisive victory 33-12. Corky Tharp set up Bama's first score of the game returning a punt 86 yards back to the two yard line where Bart Starr passed to Joe Cummings for the 2 yards score. After a Georgia touchdown tied the game Bart Starr passed 31 yards to Bobby Luna to put Alabama on top for good. Other touchdowns were scored by Vince DeLaurentis on a 38 yard interception runback, Tharp on a 63 yard run, and Bill Oliver on a 5 yard reception from Starr for his third passing touchdown of the game. The 1953 squad would finish the season with a record of 6-3-3, as SEC champions, and with an appearence in the Cotton Bowl for Coach Red Drew.
