  Alabama vs. Mississippi State The Tide would avenge their 1980 loss to the Bulldogs by defeating them by a score of 13-10 in 1981. Peter Kim would open the scoring for the Tide by hitting a 27 yard field goal in the first. Joe Carter would then score Bama's only touchdown in the second on a 1 yard plunge. Terry Sanders would then hit the game-winning 28 yard field goal in the fourth. The 1981 squad finished with a record of 9-2-1, as SEC champions, and with an appearance in the Cotton Bowl for Coach Bryant.
