  Alabama vs. Vanderbilt The Tide dropped their second SEC game in a row to fall to 0-2 in conference play on the season as they lost to Vanderbilt 14-7. Alabama scored its only touchdown on a 30 yard pass from Harry Gilmer to Carl Mims late in the fourth. The loss quieted many Tide fans that had been talking about a bowl early in the season but little did they know the Tide would not lose another regular season game after this loss in Nashville. The 1947 squad finished the season 8-3 with an appearance in the Sugar Bowl for Harold "Red" Drew in his first season at the Capstone.
