  Alabama vs. South Carolina In the third game of the 1946 season the Crimson Tide faced a Gamecocks squad that was much improved from the previous year (when the Tide won 55-0) but were still able to pull out the victory 14-6. The Gamecocks scored first in the game but not to be outdone Alabama scored the final two scores converting both extra point tries as well. Hal Self scored the first touchdown on a 1 yard run and Fred Grant provided the insurance score in the final quarter. Bama also had 2 touchdowns called back due to penalties. The 1946 squad finished the season 7-4 for coach Frank Thomas in his final season at the Capstone.
