  Alabama vs. Vanderbilt Benny Nelson was the difference in this tide contest scoring 2 long touchdowns to help the Tide defeat Vanderbilt by the score of 21-6. Nelson scored his first touchdown on a 50 yard run in the first quarter. After a Vanderbilt score in the second Mike Fracchia scored on a 1 yard rush to give Alabama a 14-6 halftime lead. The final score came in the third quarter when Nelson received a kickoff on his own 3 yard line and ran it all the way back 97 yards to give Bama the convincing victory. The 1963 squad finished with a record of 9-2 with a victory in the Sugar Bowl over Mississippi for Coach Bryant.
