  Alabama vs. Kentucky Bill Curry made his first trip back to Tuscaloosa as the head coach of Kentucky, and the Wildcats were defeated 35-7 on homecomming in Tuscaloosa. In the first, the Tide would score on a 10 yard Shaun Alexander touchdown run. In the third quarter, Bama exploded for 4 Dennis Riddle touchdowns to seal the victory. These third quarter touchdowns came on Riddle runs of 2, 1, and 6 yards, and on a 35 yard touchdown reception from Freddie Kitchens. The 1996 squad finished the season with a record of 10-3 and with a victory in the Outback Bowl in coach Gene Stallings final year as head coach of the Tide.
