  Alabama vs. LSU The Tide travelled down to Baton Rouge for a night game against the Bengals and behind the combination of Harry Gilmer and Rebel Steiner the Tide prevailed 26-7. The the first quarter Gilmer hit Steiner for a long touchdown on Gilmer's patented drop back and leap into the air throwing style. Later in the quarter Gilmer connected for this second touchdown, this time to Lowell Tew. The ball seemed to hit everyone in the endzone before Tew ended up with it. In the second Gilmer threw his third touchdown pass and this one was again to Steiner to put Alabama on top by three scores going into halftime. Fred Grant scored the final Bama points in the 4th quarter on a 6 yard run. The 1945 squad finished the season 10-0, as SEC Champions and with a victory in the Rose Bowl for coach Frank Thomas.
