Doyle would hit 6 field goals to secure the Alabama victory (32, 22, 23, 32, 37, and 35 yards). The 19 points scored by Doyle in the contest are the most ever scored by an Alabama kicker in a single game. His 6 field goals also set an Alabama record. For his masterful performance, Doyle was named SEC Player of the Week. The 1990 squad finished with a record of 7-5 and with an appearance in the Fiesta Bowl in head coach Gene Stallings first season at the Capstone.
