  Alabama vs. Washington A tough Husky squad gave the Tide all that they could handle in this 20-17 Crimson victory in Seattle. After being down 7-0 going into the second, Major Ogilvie got Bama's first points on a 13 yard touchdown run. Tony Nathan would score next for the Tide on a 1 yard plunge. In the fourth, Jeff Rutledge would hit Rick Neal for a 35 yard touchdown reception to end the afternoon's scoring. The 1978 squad finished the season with a record of 11-1, as SEC champions, as national champions, and with a victory in the Sugar Bowl for Coach Bryant.
