  Alabama vs. Southern California After being held scoreless in the first half, Alabama would score 21 second half points and defeat the Trojans in Los Angeles by a score of 21-20. Bama got on the board in the third after Johnny Davis scored on a 2 yard run. Tony Nathan would continue the scoring for the Tide in the fourth by scoring on runs of 1 and 13 yards to give Bama the 21-20 victory. The 1977 squad finished the season with a record of 11-1, as SEC champions, and with a victory in the Sugar Bowl for Coach Bryant.
