  Alabama vs. Kentucky With this 13-0 victory, Alabama gave Kentucky's head coach and former Alabama player (not to mention future legendary coach), Paul "Bear" Bryant, his first home loss as the Wildcats head coach. Harry Gilmer had a two yard touchdown run for Bama's first score, and Charlie Compton's fumble recovery set up the second. This game marked the end of a rivalry between the two schools who stopped to this point had played every season since 1917. To this point the Tide's overall record against the Wildcats was a stunning 24-1-1. The 1947 squad finished the season 8-3 with an apperance in the Sugar Bowl for Harold "Red" Drew in his first season at the Capstone.
