Alabama vs. Mississippi State This 3-6 loss to the Bulldogs ended a 28 game winning streak for the Tide (whose last loss came in a 14-24 defeat to Southern California in 1978), a 22 game winning streak against Miss State (State's last victory against the Tide came in 1957), and was Coach Bryant's first loss to State while at Alabama. In the game, a stingy Bulldog defense only allowed 180 yards of total offense to Bama while recovering 4 fumbles. The only points that Bama could manage were a 49 yard Peter Kim field goal in the second. The 1980 squad finished the season with a record of 10-2 and with a victory in the Cotton Bowl for Coach Bryant.
