  Alabama vs. Mississippi State After only managing 3 points against Penn State a week earlier, the Tide would bounce back with a 38-3 victory over the Bulldogs in Starkville. For the game, Bobby Humphrey would star in rushing for 284 yards and scoring 3 touchdowns. In the first, Alabama would score touchdowns on a 4 yard Humphrey run, a 20 yard Humphrey run, and on a 5 yard Gene Jelks run. In the third, Humphrey would visit the end zone again on a 9 yard run. In the fourth, the Tide would score a touchdown on a 3 yard Kerry Goode run followed by a 22 yard Butch Worley field goal to close the Tide's scoring for the afternoon. In the game, Alabama's defense dominated the Bulldogs in only allowing 203 yards of total offense. The 1986 Crimson Tide finished the season with a record of 10-3 and with a victory in the Sun Bowl in what would be Coach Ray Perkins' last year with Alabama.
