  Alabama vs. Louisiana Tech The low point of the 1997 season was this 20-26 loss to the Bulldogs on homecoming in Tuscaloosa. Curtis Alexander would score on his 3 yard touchdown run in the first. In the third, Freddie Kitchens would hit Calvin Hall for a 16 yard touchdown reception. Kitchens would hit Chad Goss late in the fourth for a 43 yard touchdown reception; however Bama was unable to recover the onside kick and Tech would win the game. Tim Rattay led the Tech passing attack with 361 yards passing with 126 of those yards going to Troy Edwards. The 1997 squad finished the season with a record of 4-7 in Mike Dubose's first year at the Capstone.
