  Alabama vs. Richmond The Tide beat an overmatched Spiders squad 66-0 earning the Crimson Tide's eighth victory of the 1961 season. The Tide would use 50 players in the contest, and the defense was solid in only allowing 113 yards of total offense all afternoon (only 7 yards rushing were allowed). For the game, Bama would score 9 touchdowns Dink Wall (who scored three of the nine) Richard Williamson, Benny Nelson, Red Wilkins, Ed Versprille, Jimmy Dill, and Marlin Mooneyham all scored touchdowns in the contest. The 1961 squad finished with a record of 11-0, as SEC champions, and as national champions after a victory in the Sugar Bowl for Coach Bryant.
