  Alabama vs. Georgia Tech After giving up the first points of the game, Alabama scored 20 unanswered points in the second half to defeat Tech 20-7 in Birmingham. In the game, the Tide out-rushed the Jackets 229-87. Ed Salem scored first for the Tide on a 5 yard run set up but a fumble recovery on the Tech 38 yard line. The go ahead touchdown was scored by Al Lary who caught a 25 yard Butch Avinger pass. The insurance marker came in the fourth quarter when Ed Salem scored his second touchdown with a 3 yard run. The 1949 squad finished the season with a record of 6-3-1 for Coach Red Drew.
