  Alabama vs. South Carolina After only leading the Gamecocks 7-0 at the half, Bama's offense awakened to score 28 second half points in this 35-14 victory. Bama's lone first half points came on a 2 yard Steve Sloan touchdown run in the first. Steve Bowman would score the Tide's first points of the second half on a 2 yard touchdown run in the third. Sloan would then throw a pair of touchdown passes to Dennis Homan to close the third and open the fourth (50 and 39 yards). Kenny Stabler would then close the Tide's scoring with his 2 yard touchdown run in the fourth. The 1965 squad finished 9-1-1, as SEC champions, as national champions, and with an appearance in the Orange Bowl for Coach Bryant.
