  Alabama vs. Georgia Tech Alabama would come out on top in this defensive struggle with the Yellow Jackets by a score of 9-7. After turning the ball over on the opening kickoff that resulted in a Tech touchdown, Bama would take over. Later in the first, Marlin Dyess would score the Tide's lone touchdown on a 10 yard run. In the second, Fred Sington would provide the winning margin by hitting a 33 yard field goal. The 1959 squad finished with a 7-2-2 record and with an appearence in the Liberty Bowl for Coach Bryant.
