  Alabama vs. Mississippi State Alabama closed out its 1919 campaign on Thanksgiving day in Birmingham against the Mississippi A&M Aggies and in front of 6,000 fans Bama defeated the aggies 14-6. Mississippi took the lead in the third quarter after a scoreless first half on an 80 yard kickoff return. Riggs Stephenson's amazing running tied the game up at 6 and with the Ike Boone extra point the Tide took the lead they wouldn't give up. The insurance touchdown came late in the fourth quarter as Alabama blocked a punt in the endzone and the captain Isaac J. Rodgers pounced on the ball in the endzone for the final score of the game. This game capped a great end to a remarkable season for Alabama and coach Scott. The 1919 squad finished the season 8-1 for coach Xen Scott in his first year at Alabama.
