  Alabama vs. Vanderbilt Alabama handed Vanderbilt its second worst loss in school history on this afternoon in Nashville, as the Tide was victorious 71-0. Alabama used many of its reserve players in this contest. In the first Harry Gilmer scored on a 17 yard run. In the second Lowell Tew scored on a 25 yard run and James Corbitt scored on an 18 yard pass from Gilmer. In the third Fred Grant scored on a 2 yard run, Rebel Steiner on a 29 yard pass from Gilmer, Gilmer scored again on a 6 yard run, and Corbitt on a 15 yard reverse. In the fourth Gordon Pettus ran for a 6 yard score, Charles Dickson on a 20 yard blocked punt return, and finally Frank Fedak passed to Lou Scales for a 34 yard score. The 1945 squad finished the season 10-0, as SEC champions and with a victory in the Rose Bowl for coach Frank Thomas.
