  Alabama vs. Southern Mississippi With this 37-14 victory over the Golden Eagles, the Tide would extend their winning streak to 12 games. Siran Stacy would open the scoring for the Tide with a 6 yard touchdown run in the first. In the second, Bama would score on a pair of Philip Doyle field goals (23 and 31 yards) and on a 10 yard touchdown pass from Gary Hollingsworth to Lamonde Russell. In the third, Doyle would hit a 37 yard field goal and Stacy would score on a 24 yard touchdown run. Hollingsworth would hit Russell in the fourth for a 3 yard touchdown reception to close the Tide's scoring for the day. In the contest, Stacy would rush for 120 yards and for a pair of touchdowns. The 1989 squad finished with a record of 10-2, as SEC champions, and with an appearance in the Sugar Bowl in Coach Curry's final season at the Capstone.
