  Alabama vs. Mississippi State The Crimson Tide defense held strong in this contest in Tuscaloosa holding the bulldogs to a meager 10 first downs and 167 yards of total offense and the Bama offense did its job scoring five touchdowns and field goal to beat State 35-0. Robert Fraley scored the first touchdown of the game on a 1 yard QB sneak. In the second quarter, Calvin Culliver tacked on his own 1 yard rushing touchdown and Richard Todd checked into the game and scored on a 2 yard rush to give Bama the 19-0 lead at the half. After a scoreless third quarter Randy Billingsley and QB Ray Sewell added rushing touchdowns and Fred Berrey tacked on a field goal to complete the rout. The 1974 squad finished the season with a record of 11-1, as SEC champions, and with an appearance in the Orange Bowl for Coach Bryant.
