Alabama vs.Auburn

  Score: 28-17
Alabama vs. Auburn With one final game remaining in the season the Crimson Tide faced a very tough task: beat hated rival Auburn at home for the chance to play for the SEC title. Alabama had never won in Auburn before losing on its first four meetings there. And it looked for most of the game that Auburn would make it five in a row on the plains. Alabama took an early lead with two Ryan Pflugner field goals in the first quarter but Auburn scored two touchdowns in the second half to give the tigers a 14-6 halftime lead. Just 42 seconds into the second half Alabama got the boost it needed scoring a safety to cut the lead to 14-8. In the fourth Quarter it was Shawn Alexander's game. In the fourth quarter alone Alexander rushed for 102 yards and 3 touchdowns. His first on an 8 yard run, and his second on a five yard run. Tiger kicker Damon Duval kicked a 35 yard field goal with 3 minutes remaining in the game to cut Alabama's lead to just five. But Terry Jones Jr. recovered the onside kick and Alabama regained possession with less than three minutes remaining in the game. Alexander scored his third touchdown of the quarter with just over one minute remaining in the game making it a two score game and sealing the victory for Alabama. The 1999 squad finished the season with a 10-3 record, as SEC champions, and with an appearance in the Orange Bowl for coach Mike Dubose.
