  Alabama vs. Boston College The Alabama football team made its first trip in an airplane to play the Eagles in Boston. In spite of the freezing temperatures, Harry Gilmer managed to play a great game. However the Tide was defeated by Boston College 13-7 in Boston's Fenway Park. BC scored first in the second quarter but Alabama bounced back when Gilmer passed to Ted Cook for a 12 yard score. The game remained tied until the final minutes when Boston College scored one last touchdown. The Tide would finish the 1946 season with a record of 7-4 in what was Frank Thomas's final season as head coach.
