  Alabama vs. Southern Mississippi In what was Bama's best game of the 1957 season, the Tide defeated the Golden Eagles by a score of 29-2. Danny Wilbamks would score Bama's first two touchdowns on a 1 yard run in the first and on a 3 yard run in the second. Bama's next points came in the third when Southern's punter could not handle the snap, and the ball went out of the endzone to give the Tide 2 points on the safety. On the following kickoff, Clay Walls would return the kick 66 yards to the house. Bama's final points came in the fourth when Marlin Dyess would throw a 14 yard touchdown pass to Bobby Skelton. The 1957 squad finished with a 2-7-1 record in Coach Whitworth's final season as the head coach of the Tide.
