  Alabama vs. Vanderbilt Alabama outplayed the Commodores all game long and came away with a one-touchdown shutout victory to cap off the 1938 season. Alabama won despite losing their star Charlie Holm to injury in the previous game. No points were scored until the final period of the game when on the first play Victor Bradford scored on a 2 yard quarterback sneak. Vanderbilt had a chance to put points on the board late in the game with a blocked field goal attempt but before he realized he had running room the Vandy player just fell on the ball taking away his chance to run down the field. The drive ended with a failed field goal attempt. Alabama would finish the 1938 season with a record of 7-1-1 for Coach Frank Thomas.
