Alabama vs. Vanderbilt This 9-7 victory over the Commodores in Nashville's Dudley Field secured the Tide the 1937 SEC championship and a spot in the 1938 Rose Bowl. Bama's lone touchdown was scored in the second quarter on a Joe Kilgrow touchdown pass to "Tut" Warren. Unfortunately, the extra point was missed, and the Tide would trail Vandy 7-6 as time was winding down late in the game. With an undefeated regular season on the line, Sandy Sanford would hit a 27 yard field goal to give Bama a 9-7 lead and the eventual victory. The 1937 squad finished the season 9-1 as SEC champions and with a loss in the Rose Bowl for Coach Frank Thomas.
