  Alabama vs. Georgia Pre Flight For the final regular season game of the 1942 season the Crimson Tide faced yet another team from the state of Georgia and for the third time in the season the Georgia team defeated the Tide 19-35. Alabama's only other losses of the season came by Georgia and Georgia Tech. The Pre Flight squad was essentially an all-star group of southern football players in the armed forces. On the coaching staff for Georgia were long time Alabama coaches Tilden Campbell and Hank Crisp and also former Alabama player and future coach Paul "Bear" Bryant. As for the actual game the Skycrackers jumped out to a quick lead in the first quarter off of TCU star White's touchdown. The Fliers scored three more touchdowns before Alabama finally cracked the scoreboard in the 4th quarter. Don Salls finally put Alabama on the board with a 3 yard plunge. Bobby Tom Jenkins scored the next touchdown with a 19 yard reverse run. Alabama's third and final touchdown was scored by James McWhorter on a 21 yard run. As this Skycracker team was essentially an all star team former Alabama star Ed Hickerson was on the Georgia team. The 1942 squad finished the season 8-3 with a win in the Orange Bowl for Coach Thomas.
