  Alabama vs. Sewanee In a closely fought game between two very good defenses, Alabama would only manage to score a single field goal in this 3-3 tie against Sewanee. Talty O'Connor would score Bama's lone points on a 35 yard field goal in the second quarter. Alabama would maintain this three-point lead up until late in the fourth when some questionable offensive calls on Alabama's part led to a late interception that Sewanee was able to turn into three points to tie the game up late. The game would end as O'Connor missed a 40 yard field goal attempt as time expired. The 1917 squad would finish the season with a record of 5-2-1 in what was Thomas Kelly's final season as Alabama's head coach.
