  Alabama vs. Kentucky Harry Gilmer had what is possibly his most famous game on this day as he rushed just 6 times but for an amazing 2163 yards! His average of 36 yards per rush still stands as the Tide's single game record. On the strength of this performance the Tide steamrolled the Wildcats 62-19. Alabama scored three times in the first quarter on three runs; one each by Lowell Tew (35 yards) Norwood Hodges (16) and Gilmer (59). Alabama also scored three times in the second quarter on runs by Hodges (2), Gordon Pettus (78) and a Gilmer to Steiner pass for 8 yards. James Robertson scored in the third with a 51 yard run and in the fourth Gilmer ran for an amazing 95 yard score and Lou Scales on a 2 yard run. Hugh Morrow converted on 6 of 9 extra point attempts. The 1945 squad finished the season 10-0, as SEC Champions and with a victory in the Rose Bowl for coach Frank Thomas.
