Alabama linebacker John Sullins declared before the game that the Bulldogs would not score on the Tide. His prediction proved to be true as Bama shutout State 22-0. In the first, Bama scored on a 2 yard Robert Jones touchdown run and on a 25 yard Philip Doyle field goal. Doyle would then hit a pair of field goals (45 and 40 yards) before Jones would visit the end zone again on a 1 yard plunge in the fourth. The 1990 squad finished with a record of 7-5 and with an appearance in the Fiesta Bowl in head coach Gene Stallings first season at the Capstone. |
