  Alabama vs. LSU Alabama gave up 611 yards of total offense to the Tigers in this 35-21 homecoming loss to the Tigers. In the second, Neal Thomas would hit a 23 yard field goal, and Tyler Watts would hit Terry Jones, Jr. for a 5 yard touchdown reception. In the third, Thomas would hit a 34 yard field goal, and Watts would score on a 22 yard touchdown run. LSU's Josh Reed set a SEC record with his 293 yards receiving, and Rohan Davey set a LSU record with his 528 yards passing and 35 completions. The 2001 squad would finish with a record of 7-5 and with a victory in the Independence Bowl in coach Dennis Franchione's first season as head coach of the Tide.
