Alabama vs.Auburn

Alabama vs. Auburn The 50th meeting between the Auburn Tigers and the Alabama Crimson Tide turned out to be one of the most memorable games in Alabama football history. Rory Turner stared off the game with a one yard touchdown run for Alabama putting the Tide on top 7-0. Bama did not score another touchdown until the final quarter when Freshman Gene Jelks rumbled for a 74 yard run. The story of the game however was Alabama's place-kicker Van Tiffin. Tiffin connected on four field goals that afternoon but none bigger than his 52 yard kick with no time left on the clock to give Alabama the win. That final play will be known forever in Alabama lore as "The Kick." The 1985 squad finished the season with a record of 9-2-1 and with a victory in the Aloha Bowl for Ray Perkins.
